WAUKEGAN (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Lake County Sheriff says a man who ran from arresting officers in the Waukegan courthouse Wednesday morning is back in custody.

Drunken driving was the charge 33-year-old Isiah Jarrett initially faced. And then, Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran says, Jarrett failed a drug screening by testing positive for marijuana.

Jarrett would have been required to post bond to stay out of jail. Curran said Jarrett instead made a getaway.

"He fled the courtroom and deputies pursued him on foot down four flights of stairs -- this is in the old courthouse,” he said. “As he ran out of the building, there was a car waiting for him."

A woman Jarrett knew was behind the wheel, the sheriff said.

Officers stopped the car a couple of miles away, but Jarrett wasn't in it.

Sheriff Curran said Jarrett is from Wisconsin, near Racine, and that's where he was arrested. Now, he faces escape charges.
