CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Burglars have left a Logan Square couple heartbroken.

Danny Castaneda and his partner were out of town and their dog, Frida, was left in the care of a friend. Her apartment was burglarized and they stole a laptop and the dog, a 4-year-old, 4 1/2  pound shih tzu-yorkie mix.

“This friend I know for sure is feeling super guilty, not that she had any control.  None of us could ever have predicted that this could happen," Castaneda said.

The burglary occurred near Drake and Cortland on Friday, Sept. 21 between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Castaneda said he just wants her back, no questions.

Frida is white and beige. Her back is beige and her body and neck are white.

Casteaneda said “she’s super friendly” and is “scared of any and all things,” but, he said she generally does not shy away from people.

He said she’ll generally lay on her stomach when approached.

A detective has been assigned to the case.

The couple is offering a $500 reward for her safe return. They have created a Facebook page, Find Frida, to assist in the search.
