CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Chicago-based medical supply company has drawn the ire of customers and the Better Business Bureau for failing to pay as promised.

The BBB said it has received 447 complaints from people in 46 states about Surplus Diabetic Supplies LLC, which lists a post office box in Chicago as its mailing address.

Cynthia Kollar of Elgin is among those unhappy with the company after she sent in seven boxes of unused testing strips back in September and still has not been paid.

She heard the BBB's warning over the summer about the company but said she had positive experiences with them a year ago in which they paid promptly.

Now Kollar assumes she won't see the money or strips again, after sending more than a dozen emails.

Chicago Better Business Bureau President and CEO Steve Bernas says despite assurances from the company that it would address complaints, it has not.

A spokeswoman for the Illinois attorney general's office said they have launched an investigation of the company.

WBBM has reached out to Surplus Diabetic Supplies for comment.
