CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – There is a potential development in the disappearance of Beth Bentley, the Woodstock wife and mother who was last seen downstate more than eight years ago.

WBBM's Steve Miller reports.

Beth Bentley was supposedly getting on a train in Centralia to take her back to the Chicago area in 2010.

Fast forward to last December: Remains were found, reportedly in a fire pit in Jefferson County.

The remains went to the University of Indianapolis for analysis, and now Illinois State Police have confirmed what was suspected -- that the remains are human.

State Police say: "Additional out-of-state examination is needed to see if a positive identification can be made. There is currently no time frame regarding a possible identification of the remains."
