DES PLAINES (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Illinois Toll Highway Authority has moved up the closing date for what’s left of the Des Plaines Oasis to Dec. 14.

The authority originally said it expected to close the gas stations sometime in January.

The Oasis is being replaced by an interchange for the new O’Hare western access road. No replacement for the Oasis gas stations is planned.

The Oasis span above I-90 was torn down two years ago to make way for new traffic lanes.

Motorists who use the gas stations are not happy and say the plan is a mistake that planners will come to regret.
