(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- There may be one more Democrat elected to the McHenry County Board than earlier thought.

Officials say a computer glitch undercounted the totals displayed on the County’s website.

McHenry County Clerk Mary McClellan stresses that the actual votes were in and counted property. But, a software glitch affected what was shown on the County’s computer system, she said.

Correcting the problem changed the preliminary outcome for one race, she says. As of now, Democratic McHenry County Board District 5 candidate Carlos Acosta has pulled ahead of Republican incumbent Michael Rein by about 500 votes.

McClelland notes there are about 2,000 ballots still outstanding, so even these results are not final or official.

One other race was affected. Fourteenth Congressional District winner Lauren Underwood had an even bigger victory margin.
