November 29, 2018 - 3:21 pm

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Chicago Cubs have traded infielder and pinch hitter Tommy La Stella, who was part of the 2016 roster of players who helped clinch the World Series Championship.

The Cubs dealt LaStella to the Angels for a player to be named later or a cash consideration, the team announced Thursday.

The trade of La Stella, 29, comes a day after the Cubs acquired utility infielder Ronald Torreyes from the Yankees in a deal also for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

La Stella hit .266 with one home run and 19 RBIs in 123 games last season with the Cubs, serving a role primarily off the team's bench. He is a career .264 hitter who played the last four seasons with the Cubs.

La Stella has played second base and third base primarily with the Cubs, but also played a game at first base and pitched for an inning and a third.

Torreyes, 26, hit .280 in 102 plate appearances last season with the Yankees. He has primarily played third base, shortstop and second base.
