Cubs SS Javier Baez Has Thumb Fracture

(670 The Score) -- An MRI revealed that Cubs shortstop Javier Baez has a hairline fracture in his left thumb. The timeline for a potential return will be decided after Baez sees a specialist Monday.

Baez suffered the injury sliding headfirst into second base during the Cubs' loss against the Brewers last Sunday at Wrigley Field. He hasn't played since that game.

An All-Star selection these last two seasons, Baez has posted a slash line of .281/.316/.532 with 29 home runs and 85 RBIs.

The Cubs and Brewers play the third game of a four-game series Saturday night in Milwaukee. Addison Russell is starting at shortstop.

First pitch comes at 6:10 p.m. CT from Miller Park.
