CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The CTA has reached a $6 million out-of-court settlement in a fatal downtown bus accident.

Victim Aimee Marie Coath had just left work on June 2, 2015. CTA general counsel Karen Seimetz said the 51-year-old Flossmoor woman was crossing Lake Street at Michigan Avenue, on her way to meet her ex-husband and her son.

She had the green light, but was struck by a CTA bus, which was supposed to make a left turn onto Michigan

Driver Donald Barnes had apparently blacked out. Extensive testing never determined why.

Barnes had a clean record until then. He continues to work for the agency, although not in an operating capacity.
