CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Multiple Chicago Police Department employees are under investigation for allegedly covering up former police Superintendent Eddie Johnson's now-famous night out.

The city's inspector general said it was found there was a possible cover-up of Johnson's Oct. 16 incident once he learned Johnson did not take a sobriety test after being found alseep at the wheel.

New details are emerging from the Oct. 16 incident as well that are inconsistent with what the former supintendent states. The woman Johnson was with that night, who is a CPD employee whom he had promoted, has spoken to investigators and acknowledged the two were drinking at a South Loop bar but said they were just friends. However, a Sun-Times report says video shows Johnson and woman were kissing at Ceres Cafe.

They also made a stop at Volare restaurant and at some point Johnson dropped her off at police headquarters.

It was also found that his engine was running when Johnson was found sleeping.

Aldermen Support Mayor's Decision To Fire Johnson

Johnson was fired Monday by Mayor Lightfoot after it was found he lied to her about the incident and what she called a unjust behavior. But Johnson spoke out on Tuesday, acknowledging he had a lapse in judgement but did not intentionally lie to the mayor or to the people of Chicago.

"I did not intentionally mislead or deceive the mayor or the people of Chicago," Johnson's statement read. "I acknowledge that I made a poor decision and had a lapse of judgment on the night of Oct. 16... We should all be judged by the entirety of our lives and not on what happened on our worst days."
