CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A rap and hip hop concert that was to feature several different performers at the Chicago Theatre was canceled Thursday.

Organizers said tickets would be refunded and cited "specific safety and security concerns for the surrounding area" as the reason for the cancelation.

"Take Over Jam" artists included Yfn Lucci, Rich the Kid and Kash Doll. The show was sponsored by WGCI.

Security guards could be seen outside the front of the Chicago Theatre on State Street after 8 p.m., when the concert was slated to begin.
