CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Dozens of Chicago residents gathered at the corner of North Wabash Avenue and Wacker Drive to symbolically blow whistles at Trump Tower.

This follows the controversial whistleblower complaint made last month regarding President Donald Trump's conversation with Ukraine.

Organizer Steve Duncan said he wants to encourage accountability in government and protect the whistleblowing process.

"I just hope that we're at a tipping point going forward where enough people are starting to realize that it's gone on long enough," Duncan said. "I hope more and more people would join the few brave individuals who are the first ones out of the gate."

Participant Diedre Brockwell said it's critical other whistleblowers come forward to corroborate the second-hand complaint.

"It's important that we get the accurate information directly from the source," she said.

The nine-page whistleblower complaint is now at the center of the Democratic-led impeachment inquiry.
