KOVAL officials meet with CFD in Little Village/WBBM Newsradio

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Chicago distillery is contributing to the city's efforts in slowing the spread of the coronavirus.

Representatives of KOVAL, which usually makes whiskey and gin, on Thursday dropped off 200 gallons of hand sanitizer to Chicago fire officials in Little Village. It's just the first of what will be many production runs and deliveries.

Hand sanitizer has been scarce on store shelves as people have snatched it up as a guard against COVID-19. That has left some sectors strapped for the product.

KOVAL is making its custom sanitizer for first-responders, doctors and retirement communities.

The company has co-sponsored a fundraiser page to help defray cost.
