Chicago Welcomes C.H. Robinson As First Major Tenant Of The Lincoln Yards

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A transportation and logistics company has become the first major tenant of the Lincoln Yards development west of Lincoln Park.

WBBM Newsradio's Political Editor Craig Dellimore reports C.H. Robinson has a long history in the city.

C.H. Robinson CEO John Wiehoff said the company’s 200,000-square-foot facility near Webster and Ashland is the new home for its 2,500 employees in Chicago,with room to grow. He said the company is dedicated to the city.

"We are proud of our rich history and more than a century of past success here in Chicago. We are proud of our team and all the relationships that drive our business. We are proud of our partnership and commitment to the city of Chicago," Wiehoff said.

Mayor Emanuel, who was on hand for the ribbon-cutting, praised the company and its future, and he said the company's decision shows the faith it has in Chicago.

"And the city of Chicago is going to grow with you. As you create more opportunities, we are going to make sure that there are more and more people from the city of Chicago who can participate in that growth," Emanuel said.

C.H. Robinson coordinates more than one and a half million shipments a year.
