CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Several hundred people sympathetic to the Palestinian cause marched Tuesday afternoon from Grant Park to the Israeli consulate.

Activist Ahlam Jbara said people are dying, and Illinois' senators are saying nothing. She was particularly angry with U.S. Sen. Richard Durbin.

"Our U.S. senator, Sen. Durbin, who calls himself a progressive, remains silent," she said.

Frank Chapman of the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Oppression said President Donald Trump has blood on his hands.

"They were slaughtered, and the U.S. government is complicit in that slaughter," Chapman said.

March leaders demanded that the United States close its new embassy in Jerusalem and work to guarantee Palestinians freedom to move between Israeli and Palestinian lands and the right to return to ancestral homes.
