CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- New information emerged Friday afternoon about the fatal shooting of a 66-year-old man in the Burnside neighborhood last night.

Initially, it was reported that a teen girl had been sexually assaulted at a residence in the 500 block of East 89th Place and her uncle was fatally shot by the intruder when the relative rushed in to help her.

Chicago police now say the suspect was invited to the home by the "victim."

There are "inconsistencies" in the initial reports of the incident, which happened around 9 p.m. Thursday, police said.

A person of interest was in custody. Interviews continue, police said.
