CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Several dozen people marched Tuesday through Bronzeville, south to 51st Street, to draw attention to the plight of missing young African American women.

The marchers were mostly young and female - like most of those who have disappeared.

Teresa Smith was there, holding photos of her mother, Daisy Hayes, who disappeared more than a year ago.

"The only thing I have is memories. I have nothing. I don't have any remains -- anything. I couldn't even give her a proper burial, no cremation, nothing."

Daisy Hayes' boyfriend is charged in her murder, but her body has still not been found.
