CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Kyle and Megan Zabst traveled from Elwood, Indiana to Mesa, Arizona for the Cubs' spring training to ask the team for a favor.

"I just held the sign out over the fence hoping that anybody would see it," said Megan Zabst.

The sign said "Batter up! Take a swing at our gender reveal."

"Bote, on the way onto the field, he gave us a thumbs up like he was going to be able to help us do that," she said.

Kyle Zabst tossed a baseball to infielder David Bote, who hit it and released an explosion of pink powder.

The couple predicted they were going to have a boy... but sometimes life throws us a curve ball.

"God works in mysterious ways! We are ecstatic to have a girl as well," Megan Zabst said.

Baby girl Zabst is due July 21, 2020, the couple said.

"I can't wait for that day when we get to sit down with her and she will actually be able to understand and love that moment as much as we did," the expecting mother said.
