Chicago Alderman Accused Of Impersonating A Police Officer

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A woman is accusing First Ward Chicago Ald. Proco "Joe" Moreno of making her think he was a police officer during a confrontation this past weekend in Lakeview.

Now, police are investigating.

The woman made a police report that said a man intimidated her as she parked her car on North Clark Street -- and that he flashed a badge.

"He took pictures of my car," the woman told WBBM Newsradio.

She said she didn't know he was an alderman and filed a police report because she didn't know why the man was being so aggressive.

"In this climate,” she said, “with what's happening with police officers now, personally, me being African-American and him doing that, I was just like, 'Why are you intimidating me and what's happening?'”

Ald. Moreno reportedly said the woman told him: "I can park wherever I want. I'm from Texas."

The woman told WBBM she is from a suburb of Houston but is "relatively new to Chicago."
