CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A former Chicago radio producer and golf enthusiast begins a long and grueling odyssey for charity next week.

Pete Crozier will begin swinging and won’t stop for nearly two months.

“Fifty courses in 50 states in 50 days,” he explains.

Crozier just turned 50. He said he’s been thinking about this effort since his father died from complications from diabetes 20 years ago. His son, Gavin, also has the disease.

The project, entitled “Fifty for Father,” will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

He admits it will be hard, but he thinks the effort will be worth it. He starts in South Carolina and works his way to the West Coast. He’ll be in the Chicago area in late June.
