Businesses Close, Residents Told To Stay In As Unrest Continues

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- After a night of violence, looting and vandalism Saturday following peaceful protests that took place earlier that day, there are reports of more unrest Sunday. WBBM continues to get reports of looting and other problems at various places all over the Chicago area.

  • 12:41 p.m. WBBM has received reports that the Jewel-Osco near 95th and Pulaski is on hard lockdown after looting in the area and there has also been a report of looting at Ford City Mall.  And, there is a report that the Walmart in Niles is on lockdown.
  • 1:00 p.m. Reports that the Walmart in Crestwood is being looted.
  • 1:20 p.m. Reports that Orland Square Mall is closed and all the roads leading into it have been blocked off.
  • 1:37 p.m. Brookside Market Place in Tinley Park is closed anticipating lootings.
  • 1:50 p.m. Reports of looting at River Oaks Mall in Calumet City.
  • 2:10 p.m. Lootings across the south side neighborhoods including at 35th Street and King Drive in Bronzeville and 95th Street and Western in Evergreen Park.
  • 2:20 p.m. Looting reported at 52nd Street and Kedzie Avenue and in the liquor and pharmacy sections of the Walgreens store on 120 block of South Michigan Avenue. The Walgreens pharmacy evacuated at 95th Street and Ashland Avenue on the South Side.
  • 2:23 p.m. Walmart and Target stores in New Lenox, Illinois evacuated amid protests.
  • 2:24 p.m. Shots fired at Mariano's grocery store on 3800 block of South King Drive in Bronzeville as well as a person shot at intersection of South Lafayette Avenue and West 87th Street on the South Side. 
  • 2:25 p.m. Looting seen at Nike Community Store on 8510 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue in Chatham on the South Side. 
  • 2:30 p.m. Looting reported at Walmart Supercenter on 1300 block of Des Plaines Avenue in Forest Park.
  • 2:35 p.m. Lootings Jewel Osco at 95th Street and Stony Island Avenue.
  • 2:44 p.m. Funeral home burning at the intersection of East 112th Place and South Michigan Avenue. The Walmart at 2500 block of West 95th Street in Evergreen Park is reportedly on fire.
  • 2:55 p.m. Oakbrook Mall is closed.
  • 2:59 p.m. Shots fired amid report of looting at North Riverside Park Mall in North Riverside.
  • 3 p.m. Lansing, Munster and Orland Park businesses are closed and all residents are advised to stay indoors
  • 3:30 p.m. Fire reported at Walmart Supercenter on 4700 135th Street in Crestwood. One reportedly shot on South Princeton Avenue in Chicago.
  • 3:31 p.m. Blain's Farm & Fleet and the Walmart across the street in Romeoville are being looted.
  • 3:36 p.m. Armed suspect in custody after allegedly attempting to run over police officers near 2900 block of North Natchez Avenue in Chicago,
  • 3:36 p.m. Shots fired ane people are running at the intersection of West 47th Street and South Kedzie Avenue in Chicago.
  • 4:13 p.m. Reports of looting at Brickyard Mall on Chicago's West Side and the Harlem Irving Plaza on the Northwest Side.
  • 4:20 p.m. Shots fired near the Museum of Science and Industry on 5700 block of South Lake Shore Drive in Hyde Park on the South Side..
  • 4:24 p.m. Ten people reportedly admitted to Mount Sinai Hospital from Gage Park area with gunshot injuries in Chicago.
  • 4:26 p.m. Broken window seen at the intersection of South La Grange Road and 179th Street in Orland Township.
  • 4:34 p.m. Police block off access to Jeffery Plaza shopping center in South Shore on the South Side. Nine police vehicles and officers with helmets reported at near Walgreen store at intersection 71st Street and Jeffery Boulevard in Chicago.
  • 4:42 p.m. Multiple vehicles stolen from Sherman Dodge dealership on 7601 North Skokie Boulevard in Skokie.
  • 4:40 p.m. Shots fired on North Lake Shore Drive in Chicago.
  • 4:40 p.m. Building on fire, injuries reported after shots fired from the rooftop at Pulaski Road and Madison Street in Chicago.
  • 5:42 p.m. CTA suspending all buses and trains Sunday evening.
