(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Chicago Bulls have selected Duke's Wendell Carter Jr. with the No. 7 overall pick in Thursday's NBA Draft.

The 19-year-old power forward, who hails from Fairburn, Ga., is 6'10" and 259 pounds.

He was viewed by many scouts as a safe pick. He averaged 13.5 points and 9.1 rebounds in his lone season at Duke.

Carter is considered a high-end rebounder with the ability on the offensive end to face up and play with his back to the basket. He also has the ability to step out and hit 3-pointers, shooting 41.3 percent behind the arc. He's regarded as a quality defender as well, though his lateral quickness and explosiveness are considered weaknesses.
