Bulls Get 7th Pick In NBA Draft Lottery

May 15, 2018 - 6:55 pm

CHICAGO (670 The Score) -- Luck didn't smile upon the Bulls on Tuesday evening as it did 10 years ago in the NBA Draft lottery.

Chicago will select seventh in the NBA Draft on June 21 after the ping-pong balls didn't bounce its way. The Bulls held a 5.3 percent chance of grabbing the top pick -- which they nabbed with 1.7-percent odds back in 2008, when they selected hometown star Derrick Rose -- but that long-shot hope didn't play out. The Kings received the lottery luck and jumped into the top three.

The Phoenix Suns will pick first.

Arizona center DeAndre Ayton, Slovenian guard Luka Doncic and Duke forward Marvin Bagley are widely considered top-five picks. Missouri forward Michael Porter Jr., Texas center Mo Bamba, Michigan State forward Jaren Jackson Jr. and Oklahoma point guard Trae Young are also projected by many to be selected in the top half of the lottery.

Bulls president of basketball operations John Paxson has openly expressed the team's need to add another wing player. Villanova wing Mikal Bridges is another player who fits that bill.

The Bulls also hold the No. 22 pick, which they acquired as part of the Nikola Mirotic trade.
