BOURBONNAIS, Illinois (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The south suburb of Bourbonnais, where the Bears held summer training camp for nearly two decades, is disappointed the team is relocating that component back to Halas Hall.

The announcement came Tuesday. Bears officials said preseason practice will be held at the organization's renovated headquarters.

"I was shocked and obviously not overly pleased," Bourbonnais Mayor Paul Schore tells WBBM Newsradio's Jim Gudas. "But we had an 18-year run down here with them. I guess you've got to count your blessings."

Some positive effects will linger, Schore said. People now know that the community isn't that far away, certainly not in "Southern Illinois," the mayor says.

Also, some visitors were so pleased with Bourbonnais they ended up buying homes there, he notes.

Bears officials say the public will still be allowed to observe the Bears practice in the new location.
