CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- "The boot is back!"

For the first time in four years, shoppers at Christkindlmarket will be able to purchase warm drinks in an iconic boot-shaped mug.

Organizers made the announcement Tuesday, saying "The boot is back! We are excited to bring back the popular boot shape in three different styles specific to each Christkindlmarket location and with interior colors that represent the German Flag and German-American Friendship."

There will be three boot designs this year - one for each market location, downtown Chicago, Wrigleyville, and Milwaukee.

The keepsake mugs began in 1996. The last time the boot-shaped mug appeared was in 2015, which was when the Christkindlmarket celebrated its 20th anniversary.

The Daley Plaza location is now in its 24th year. The holiday market returns for the second year to Wrigleyville and Milwaukee. The holiday market will not return to Naperville.

A limited-edition pack of all three mugs will be available for $20 at each of the markets. Individual mugs will also be available from vendors while supplies last. Mugs can be purchased with gluhwein - a hot spiced wine or nonalcoholic options.

The organizers also announced there will be a new option for kids - Peppermint the Penguin, said to be "Snowmans' newest friend." In previous years, the Kinder Club mug was a snowman.

Christkindlmarket Chicago will open on Nov. 15 and will run through Christmas Eve. The Wrigleyville location will open on Nov. 22 and will run through New Year’s Eve, and Milwaukee’s Christkindlmarket will also open on Nov. 15.

Mugs from previous years can be purchased from the Christkindlmarket website.
