Bears Release OL Earl Watford

August 26, 2018 - 7:12 pm

(670 The Score) The Bears have released veteran offensive lineman Earl Watford, they announced Sunday.

Watford, 28, was signed this past offseason with the belief that he could provide depth and perhaps have an outside shot at starting, but he was beaten out by others for that role and a reserve spot. Watford had mixed in working at right and left guard. The Bears tried to shop him by before releasing him, Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated reported.

The Bears finish the preseason by hosting the Bills at Soldier Field on Thursday evening.
