Bears OLB Khalil Mack, WR Allen Robinson Inactive Versus Jets

October 28, 2018 - 10:36 am

CHICAGO (670 The Score) -- Star outside linebacker Khalil Mack will miss his first career game, with the Bears officially ruling him inactive against the Jets due to an ankle injury. Top target Allen Robinson (groin) will also be inactive.

Mack worked out on Soldier Field 30 minutes prior to the Bears declaring inactives, but did not appear to be doing much to test his injured right ankle. He had played all 70 games prior to this Sunday. Mack injured his right ankle two weeks ago during a game in Miami when it was rolled up on a play. The Bears had held him out of practice Wednesday and Thursday before working him through a light practice on Friday.

Mack had recorded five sacks, four forced fumbles and an interception returned for a touchdown in his first four games before suffering the injury in Miami, which had hampered his effectiveness since.

Robinson aggravated the groin injury last Sunday and was forced to check out of action. He, too, had been held out of practice during the week but the Bears decided it was best to sideline him against the Jets. Robinson has recorded 25 receptions for 285 yards and two touchdowns in his first six games with the Bears.

Rookie James Daniels will start at left guard for the Bears in place of veteran Eric Kush, who was ruled out by Friday because of stingers in his neck. Daniels had been rotating in with Kush ever since late September, but this will be his first career start.

The Bears' inactives also include cornerback Marcus Cooper, fullback Michael Burton, tackle Rashad Coward and defensive lineman Nick Williams.

The Jets will be missing key players of their own, ruling out receivers Robby Anderson and Quincy Enunwa along with cornerback Trumaine Johnson.

Kickoff between the Bears and Jets comes at noon CT from Soldier Field.
