Bears' Javon Wims Surprises Mother With Car: 'Dream Come True'

November 27, 2018 - 2:06 pm

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) -- There it was waiting in the first parking spot outside a Miami-area Cheesecake Factory, a brand-new 2019 Chevrolet Camaro. It was quite the surprise.

Cleola Mosley looked to her son, Bears rookie receiver Javon Wims, and was stunned.

"It's your car," he told his mother.

She still couldn't believe it. The tone of her voice rose as she walked over to the driver's door.

All she could do was open the door with a quick glance before running to her son with a hug, then asking again: This is my car?

"That probably was the best feeling of my life so far," Wims said back at Halas Hall on Tuesday as he looked back on a memorable weekend back home in South Florida.

The Bears selected Wims in the seventh round of the NFL Draft this past April, adding a 6-foot-4 target out of Georgia whom they believed could eventually earn a role in their passing game.

For the 24-year-old Wims, the big surprise of Thanksgiving weekend was something he had planned since signing that rookie contract in May. He wanted to repay Cleola, who raised him mostly as a single mother, and he was grateful to get the chance to do so.

I hope u enjoy your new car mama--
Merry Christmas

Wims is earning $503,978 in 2018 and is set for an average annual salary of $638,978 across his rookie contract, according to Spotrac. The opportunity to share blessings with his mother was something he cherished.

"Dream come true," Wims said.

"My mom means everything."
