CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- In celebration of the team’s 100th season, the Chicago Bears are placing larger-than-life bobblehead statues of Bears legends around the city during the weeks of home games.

The first giant bobblehead is a seven-foot statue of Red Grange at North Avenue Beach, in advance of the Bears’ first preseason game Thursday night against the Carolina Panthers.

The Bears say giant bobbleheads of Dick Butkus, Walter Payton, Brian Urlacher and Khalil Mack are among those that will show up across the city throughout the season. Smaller versions of the bobbleheads will be given to the first 20,000 fans at each home game.

The Red Grange statue will be moved to Soldier Field before the game Thursday.

The bobbleheads are made of high-density foam and weighing between 150 and 200 pounds.
