LAKE FOREST, Ill. (670 The Score) -- Bears defensive lineman Akiem Hicks was held out of practice for a second straight day and is status for Sunday's game is up in the air.

The Bears (8-3) will make official their game statuses for the contest against the Giants (3-8) on Friday afternoon, which could perhaps offer clarity to Hicks' status. He first appeared on the injury report Wednesday with an Achilles injury.

Coach Matt Nagy referred to Hicks' situation as a precautionary matter as he spoke before Thursday's practice.

"It’s just one of those things we just felt like with where he’s at, it would be good to give him a day and help him out there," Nagy said.

Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said he didn't have a sense to Hicks' health, though he didn't rule out this being an issue come Sunday.

"If he’s injured to a significant degree, yeah, it will hinder him," Fangio said.

Hicks has dealt with ailments on multiple occasions this season but has yet to miss a game in his three-year career with the Bears. He has four sacks on the season and has served as a key piece to the Bears' defensive front.

Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky (right shoulder) was officially listed as limited for a second straight day, though Nagy had said before practice that Trubisky is not yet throwing a football. He also did not throw on Thursday in the portion of practice open to the media.

The Bears practiced without running back Benny Cunningham (ankle) and cornerback Sherrick McManis (hamstring), both key players on special teams. Linebacker Aaron Lynch and tight end Adam Shaheen both practiced in full for a second straight day after returning from the concussion protocol.
