(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The National Beard and Moustache Championships are going on this weekend in Tinley Park.

WBBM happened to run into two competitors from Seattle.

Gandhi Jones of Seattle has been competing since 2007. One of his favorite categories: freestyle mustache.

"People go really creative because you can shape it any way you want, make it symmetrical or asymmetrical, make it look like an object," said Jones. "I've turned mine into a cat. I've made cat whiskers."

This Saturday, he plans on something special.

"I'm going to do a freestyle mustache in the shape of a crescent wrench. And I got my mechanic's outfit and a whole persona to go with that," he said.

Another hirsute Seattle resident, Patrick Dawson, is going for length.

"I haven't shaved my chin in over 18 years,” Dawson said. "I am currently number-one in the country and number two in the world for goatee."

"Tell him about your product," Jones said.

Dawson's CBD product, called Live Right CBD: Patrick Dawson Signature Beard Oil, helped him gain a few inches of length in his beard in the last few years, he said.

He said his beard is now about 33 inches long.
