(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- In light of all of the parade and fireworks cancellations for the Fourth of July, a west suburban VFW has decided to have a parade for children.

The Batavia VFW is hosting a 4th of July parade for children, who are encouraged to wear their patriotic best.

Batavia VFW Commander Jay Davis explains: There will be 6 acres for participants to spread out and keep their social distance; organizers will take precautions while serving food; and the fire department will be on hand to supervise.

The Batavia VFW is at 645 South River Street. Participants should show up at 10 a.m.; the parade will begin at 10:30 a.m.
