(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A local car dealer is helping the family of McHenry County Sheriff's Deputy Jacob Keltner, who died earlier this month while trying to execute a warrant.

Gary Rosenberg was moved by the deputy's death and the police procession that carried his body on March 7.

The owner of Crystal Lake Chrysler Jeep Dodge says he learned Keltner's family lives near him and they bought a van from his dealership two years ago.

Rosenberg decided to pay off the loan, saying it was the right thing to do.

Keltner's wife, Becki, wanted to meet him to say thanks personally.

Rosenberg says she came to the dealership, where he gave her the title. They hugged and cried a little, he said.

His sales people posted the story to social media -- complete with video and pictures of Keltner's young sons -- and he's been overwhelmed by the response.
