CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The city of Aurora remembered one of its own on this Memorial Day: a 21-year-old killed four months ago in Afghanistan.

It was Jan. 11 when Specialist Miguel Villalon was killed by a roadside bomb in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan.

Villalon had been a leader in East Aurora High School's Naval Junior ROTC program.

He went on to join the Army and was in the 82nd Airborne Division.

Miguel Villalon was remembered at Aurora's Memorial Day ceremony by Congressman Bill Foster.

"He bravely chose to wear our nation's uniform and leave his family and his hometown so that he could serve our country and protect our freedom.  Like so many others, Miguel laid down his life in defense of the country that he loved," Foster said.

Miguel Villalon was the fifth fatality from East Aurora High School in the war on terrorism.
