AURORA (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Aurora’s mayor and police chief have both tested positive for COVID-19, the city announced Friday.

Doctors tested Mayor Richard Irvin and police chief Kristen Ziman last weekend, after a police supervisor tested positive for the virus, a spokesperson said.

The mayor's last public appearance was a week ago.

He says in a statement he's recovered from flu-like symptoms and is feeling much better.

The chief says she's been self-quarantining since getting tested, and feels fine.
