CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Chicago Police say it defines brazen: an armed carjacking at a River North valet stand in broad daylight Wednesday.

Officer Jose Jarra said two men approached a worker at the Tortoise Club valet around 12:45pm.

"One brandished a gun and demanded keys," Jarra told reporters. "The offenders took some keys from the box and ended up with a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. They fled with the vehicle."

A valet driver followed the suspects and called police to disclose their location. The stolen vehicle struck several parked cars in River North before the suspects attempted to run off.

"An unknown citizen actually assisted in stopping the driver," Jarra said. "He tripped over something and his gun fell out of his waistband. He was apprehended by the police shortly after that."

Jarra said witnesses helped point out the second man to police.

No one was hurt.
