CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Just as Halloween is out the door and Dia de los Muertos wraps up, a historic name is already focusing on the next big holiday.

Macy's department store, still called Marshall Fields by many Chicagoans, welcomed the Chrismtas spirit with its annual tree lighting ceremony as the 45-foot-tall Great Tree was lit for the 112th time.

Hundreds of people crowded into the 7th floor of the store to witness the tree lighting and a performance by Brian King Joseph, the America's Got Talent finalist, who played Christmas songs with an electric violin twist.

The ceremony brought locals who had never been to seasoned groups who have been attending for nearly 10 years.

Also part of the celebrations: Christmas-themed window displays with Santa Claus, a snowy display of a winter wonderland and large-scale puppets bobbling in space.
