NILES (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Niles Fire Department Ambulance No. 3 will always be special to one family. That’s because one of their daughters was born in it.

Now, after more than six years, Phoebe Block has gotten a chance to have her photo taken with it.

Her arrival originally came on a Saturday. Dec. 21, 2013.

Dayle Block started getting contractions, two minutes apart from the get-go. Her baby was born in front of the house, in a Niles ambulance.

"My neighbors were having their Christmas party so they got to be there for all of it,” the mom recalled Tuesday. “But it was cool because my husband got to hold her the whole way to the hospital."

Phoebe Block is now five, going on six.

"As soon as she was old enough to say anything, anytime she heard an ambulance or saw an ambulance, she would point at it because she knew that's where she was born,” Dayle Block said.

The paramedics who delivered Phoebe were at her first birthday party.

And Phoebe has wanted to have a photo made with "her" ambulance -- No. 3.

Now, she has. The photo's on the Niles Fire Department's Facebook page.
