CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Algonquin police are looking for two people who robbed a grocery store before carjacking a woman in the parking lot.

Police said it happened shortly after noon Thursday at the Jewel Osco at 1501 E. Algonquin Rd.

Algonquin Deputy Police Chief of Operations Ryan Markham said employees were chasing two men who had stolen liquor from inside the store.

"When they exited the store, one of the suspects pushed a female to the ground, entered her car and took that car. The other suspect fled on foot," Markham said.

The woman was not injured.  The car was recovered a short time later in Carpentersville. Deputy Police Chief of Operations Ryan Markham said the two didn't really think their plan all the way through.

"They did get caught by the employees of the store, and they did not have an escape plan that was going to work for them," he said.

Nearby schools, churches, and businesses went on lockdown while police looked for the men.  That lockdown was lifted when police determined they were no longer in the area.

Earlier this year a man was arrested and charged with stealing a car from an 83-year-old woman at the same store.
