Akiem Hicks Pleased With Progress Of Bears' Defense

(670 The Score) With star edge rusher Khalil Mack sideline recentkly, defensive lineman Akiem Hicks had hoped to talk about the level of dominance from the Bears defense as a whole rather just one individual player. After the Bears' 41-9 win over the Bills on Sunday, Hicks got his wish and was happy to discuss a group he believes is getting better every week.

The Bears held quarterback Nathan Peterman and the Bills in check while forcing four turnovers, including two that they returned for touchdowns. So how would Hicks describe the way this Bears defense is playing?

"That's a great way to look at it, that we're getting better every week," Hicks said on the Mully & Haugh Show on Monday morning. "I like to think of us going into this space, we get to this level where we're executing at such a focused and dominant level, that it looks like there are too many people on the field."

The Bears improved to 5-3 with their win over the Bills and remain atop the NFC North in first place, percentage points ahead of the 5-3-1 Vikings. Chicago split its four consecutive AFC East games at 2-2, capping it off with a pair of victories after losing a pair of one-poession contests.

Now, the Bears turn to a run of three NFC North matchups in a 12-day span, starting against the Lions (3-5) at Soldier Field this Sunday.

"It's going to be good," Hicks said. "We just got to get after it and approach these games as they should be approached. Division games count for two. You got to go in and play well against teams that are in your division. That's what we got to do."
