CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Stocks closed higher Wednesday as solid economic data and optimism in the tech sector put investors in a buying mood.

The S&P 500 gained 19, the NASDAQ added 52 and the Dow Jones industrial average closed up nearly 149 points, settling to 25,702.

The S&P reached a 2019 high.

“We haven't seen that in the Dow Jones industrial average and the Dow Jones transportation average, but that is good news to see it in the S&P 500 and will be interesting to see how the Dow Jones industrials and transports behave here over the next few days," Chuck Carlson, CEO of Horizon Investment Services, says.

Carlson also noted that he currently finds shares of Zebra Technologies (ZBRA) and United Health (UNH) attractive at current levels.
