CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) – It was a turnaround day for stocks, bouncing back from steep losses earlier in the session, as concerns about the future of the global economy subsided.

The S&P 500 gained 28, the NASDAQ advanced 122 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average added more than 208 points, settling to 25,289.

"It was a pretty good day, not just because of the market being up, but you saw the market hold those previously important lows here. I think that from a Dow Theory perspective, that's really important,” Chuck Carlson, CEO of Horizon Investment Services, said.

He added the recent sell-off appears to be a correction within a bull market and not necessarily the first leg down of a bear market.
