CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Stocks surged higher Friday, recovering most of the losses earlier in the week, after a surprisingly strong May jobs report brought out the bulls in force.

The S&P 500 gained 29, the NASDAQ added 112 and the Dow Jones closed up nearly 220 points, settling to 24,635.

"We've came out of the new year expecting a huge boom because of the tax cuts, we just haven't seen any of the benefits from that yet, now it appears we are seeing some of that impact," Jack Ablin, chief investment officer at Cresset Wealth Advisors in Chicago, said.

He adds that he likes the fundamentals behind small-cap stocks and says they are more insulated from trade disputes and international issues.
