CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- If you plan to drive this Memorial Day weekend, there are several things you can do to reduce your risk on the roads.

Beth Mosher of AAA said a little maintenance can go a long way.

"If you can't stop into a mechanic, we are expecting to come to the rescue for 350,000 people this Memorial Day Weekend - batteries, flat tires, and lock-outs being the number one reason," she said.

Mosher said make sure your windshield wipers are in good shape since we're expecting a lot of rain, and she said drivers are required in Illinois to turn on their headlights when it's raining so it's easier for other drivers to see them.

She also said wearing seat belts isn't just smart. Police are out in force to ticket drivers who don't have themselves or their passengers properly buckled up.
