9-1-1 Caller Incredulous Over Super Bowl Lineup
(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The McHenry County Sheriff's office says 9-1-1 operators got unique call on Super Bowl Sunday.
The Super Bowl was on. And at least one person thought the wrong teams were playing.
"New England is playing L.A.!” the caller said.
"What's going on?" asks the 9-1-1 operator.
“Kansas City and the Rams should be playing football.”
McHenry County Sheriff's Detective Sandra Rogers said officials have to respond, even to calls like that one.
"Just because we have somebody calling and it sounds ridiculous, and it sounds like, ‘Why are you calling and doing this?’ we have to investigate and make sure it isn't somebody in a bad situation that truly needs help.”
Detective Rogers says the man misused the system but won't be charged.
This time. If there is a next time, she said, he could be charged and arrested.
