CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Des Plaines Police say a 19-year-old man suffered a broken leg and possibly a broken pelvis, after leading officers on a car chase early Wednesday.

It was just after midnight when the chase began in Des Plaines.

Police Commander Chris Mierzwa said it started as a traffic stop near Oakton and River. A patrol officer tried to curb a vehicle, and it sped off, southbound on River Road, he said.

"Des Plaines officers terminated the pursuit very shortly after it started.  The offending vehicle was clocked at going 90 miles per hour,” Mierzwa said.

The car went through Rosemont and finally crashed into two other vehicles in Chicago, near Balmoral and Mannheim, close to O'Hare.

Five people in the car were all injured -- the 19-year-old driver most severely.

Police say a girl who was in the car had been reported as missing earlier. She was reunited with her parents at a hospital.
