CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Mayor Lori Lightfoot has marked her first 100 days in office with a declaration of her accomplishments -- and a reality check about the challenges she is facing.

Lightfoot gathered her Cabinet, transition team and several City Department heads at Kenwood Academy on Wednesday to talk about what she’s done so far. The former federal prosecutor said she’s just getting started.

At an event elaborately staged to highlight her first 100 days, Lightfoot talked of accomplishments on matters ranging from public safety and education to ethics reforms.

She said even with new rules on “aldermanic privilege” and reforms underway for fines and fees and workers compensation, she’s not taking a victory lap. She grew emotional when she talked about children still at risk in some neighborhoods.

"I have seen first-hand what is lost when a young person can't see how great their potential is,” she said.
