CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- One person was killed and two others were critically injured Thursday morning when a motorcycle crashed into a car in Burnham.

It happened as the motorcycle carrying two people was heading north on Torrence Avenue approaching 145th Street.

A witness said a car pulled out of a store parking lot and stopped and the motorcycle slammed into it.

Mark Quiroga works there and called 911.

"The car was leaving the parking lot and he kind of just - he didn't look where he was going, but he just came right out and into the middle of the road, stopped when I think he saw the bike. If he didn't stop, I think the bike would have missed him. But he didn't look, he just left our parking lot," said.

Quiroga said he thought he felt a pulse on the man driving the motorcycle, identified as 21-year-old Kendall King, but he later died. His girlfriend, who was thrown a good distance, was critically injured as was the driver of the car.

The motorcycle was severely damaged with debris scattered across the road. The car involved also sustained damage.

Torrence Avenue is shut down in both directions from 140th Street to 142nd Street and will remain closed during the investigation.
